Baer, Daniel Brooks, 1977-
Daniel Brooks Baer (born January 6, 1977) is an American politician and former diplomat from Colorado. Baer served in the Obama administration's State Department, first as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (2009-2013) and then as United States Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (2013-2017). In 2018, Governor John Hickenlooper appointed Baer as the executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education.
Baer is a native of Colorado. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in social studies and African American studies and was then a Marshall Scholar at Oxford University, where he earned master's and doctoral degrees in international relations.
