Cherie, Booth Blair, 1954-

Cherie Booth Blair was born on September 23, 1954, in Lancashire, England to two actors. She earned her law degree at the London School of Economics. She met her husband, Tony in 1976 and they married in 1980. They both ran for Parliament in the general election of 1983, both representing the Labour Party. While Tony won his election, Cherie lost hers. She then left her political ambitions behind to focus on her growing legal career, specializing in human rights cases. She cofounded her own legal firm, Matrix Chambers, in 2000. In 2004, she co-wrote a book with Cate Haste on the lives of spouses of British prime ministers in 2004 entitled "The Goldfish Bowl: Married to the Prime Minister." She then published a memoir in 2008 entitled "Speaking for Myself." In 2011, she founded Omnia Strategy, an international law firm. Booth is involved with a number of non-profit organizations including her own, the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, established in 2008. The Blairs have four children.
