Guilloû, Charles F. (Charles Fleury), 1813-1899
Charles Fleury Bien-aimé Guilloû, naval surgeon, was born on 26 July 1813. He married Dinah Postlethwaite in 1852. Guilloû died on 1 Jan. 1899.
Guilloû received an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, 1836, and became Assistant Surgeon in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the "Peacock" during the United States Exploring Expedition (1838-1842), the "Columbus", the Frigate "Constitution", and the Receiving Ship "North Carolina". He resigned from the Navy in 1854 to assume charge of a marine hospital in Hawaii where he became Court Physician to King Kamehameha IV and Italian Consul. Guilloû left Hawaii in 1866, moving first to Petersburg, Va., then to New York, where he became a manufacturing chemist.
