Mason, Jane K. (Jane Kendall), 1909-1980
Jane Mason was born Jane Coyle in Tuxedo Park, NY, on June 24, 1909. Jane took the name Kendall when her mother remarried. While studying art at the Briarcliff School in New York, Jane was presented to Washington, D.C. society. On June 11, 1929, Jane married George Grant Mason, an executive with Pan American Airways in Cuba. The Masons became friends of Ernest and Pauline Hemingway and introduced the Hemingways into Cuban society.
