Pasteur, Louis, 1822-1895
French chemist and microbiologist. Amongst other things Pasteur proved that microrganisms caused fermentation and disease, he originated and was the first to use vaccines for rabbits, anthrax and chicken cholera and he performed important pioneer work in stereochemistry and he originated pasteurization.
