Parke family.
The Parke family produced many prominent leaders in religious, political, and civic life, including Pennsylvania lawyer Benjamin Parke (1801-1882); Robert Nathan Parke (1828-1907), minister in the Protestant Episcopal Church in the 1870's and 1880's; and Benjamin Parker's daughter Eunice Park Detweiler, who was a leader in the Protestant Episcopal Church in Halifax (Pa.) ca. 1862-1885. Other prominent family members include Robert N. Parke's son, Frederick Huntington Parke, a Westinghouse executive assigned to St. Petersburg, Russia (1889-ca. 1902); Benjamin Parke Avery (1828-1875), journalist and U.S. minister to China in 1874-1875; and Frederick Huntington Park Jr. (b. 1916), who served in the Pacific during World War II.
