Jewett, Sarah Orne, 1849-1909
Sarah Orne Jewett was one of America's foremost regional writers. She produced novels, stories, and sketches, generally concerned with the lives and traditions of women in the rural areas of coastal New England. Her gentle, well-observed, respectful style transcends the limitations of genre and continue to make her work relevant.
