Kulisiewicz, Aleksander Tytus, 1918-1982
Aleksander Kulisiewicz was born in Krakow in 1918. Kulisiewicz was arrested by the Gestapo in 1939 and taken to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp near Berlin. He was held in Sachsenhausen until his liberation on 02 May 1945. During his imprisonment he composed a total of 54 songs. After liberation, Kulisiewicz continued to compose and began publishing the songs, lyrics, and poetry of fellow concentration camp victims, as well as his own. He toured both Europe and the United States performing his works until about 1980. He became ill and died in Krakow, Poland, on 12 Mar 1982.
