Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania
The Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania began in 1949 during Pennsylvania Week. Distinguished daughters are nominated by organizations of women in Pennsylvania. Originally they had to be legal residents but not necessarily native born; this rule was changed in 1958 to recognize distinguished service to Pennsylvania.
