Denver (Colo.). Dept. of Public Works.
In 1956, a city charter amendment mandated the division of the Department of Improvements and Parks in two separate departments: Public Works and Parks and Recreation. The Department of Public Works is responsible for road maintenance and repair, weekly household trash collection service, design, construction and management of streets, bridges, and public buildings, transportation services through parking management, transportation planning, engineering and operations offices, and protection of the urban environment.
