Humphries, Keith J.
A former civil engineer at White Sand Missile Ranges, Keith Humphries was a New Mexican author, historian and painter. Originally from Oklahoma, Humphries found his passion for history when his family lived in Toyah, Texas next to the Van Horn Wells stage station. Travelers to the area and memories of the family ranch hand fueled his desire to record history, but he wasn't able to pursue his passion until retirement. He wrote a book titled Apache land from those who lived it and painted wild west scenes to recount some of the older stories.
From the guide to the Keith Humphries papers, circa 1930-1982, 1930-1982, (Archives and Special Collections. New Mexico State University Library.)
