Arizona State University. Campus Environment Team
As part of Arizona State University's 13-point plan to combat racism (established in response to student protests), President Lattie Coor created the Campus Environment Team (CET) in the spring of 1990. Professor Charles R. Calleros, Associate Dean of the College of Law, chaired a committee composed of appointed members from a variety of colleges and departments. CET worked closely with ex-officio members, including the Director of Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action, the Dean of Student Life, and the Director of Residence Life, to promote campus-wide appreciation of diversity and respect for all individuals while also protecting free speech and academic freedom.
The CET's general duties included individual members acting in an advisory capacity to the academic community, enforcing anti-harassment policies, educating the campus community, and collecting and reporting data. CET continues to function as originally charged in 1990 with increased community representation and expanded ex-officio participation.
