Kittredge, Joseph, 1890-
Joseph Kittredge was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts, on November 28, 1890. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Harvard University before serving in France during World War I. After working for more than a decade for the United States Forest Service he earned a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1931. Kittredge came to the University of California, Berkeley, in 1932 as professor of forestry and ecologist in the Agricultural Experiment Station. He retired from teaching in 1954. He died in Santa Barbara, California, on August 5, 1971.
