Powrie family.
Emerson F. Powrie served as a Principal in several Ann Arbor, Mich. public schools in the 1950s-early 1970s. During his tenure the schools underwent important restructuralization and desegregation, and were engaged in experimental teachers education programs and Midwest Program on Airborne Television Instructions. Gwendolyn Sutton Powrie was a University of Michigan School of Education Master's degree recipient (1953). She taught at the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint, Mich.
