Andrews, George William, 1906-1971
Andrews, a native of Clayton, Alabama, graduated with a law degree from the University of Alabama in 1928. In 1930, he was elected circuit solicitor (district attorney) for Alabama's Third Judicial Circuit. He served as a lieutenant (j.g.) in the Navy during World War II. In 1944, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from the Third Congressional District of Alabama, where he served until his death in 1971. His widow, Elizabeth Bullock Andrews, was elected to serve the remainder of his term.
