Otte, John A. (John Abraham), 1861-1910
John A. Otte graduated from Hope College in 1883. The following fall he enrolled in the University of Michigan to study medicine. Otte became the first medical missionary of the Reformed Church in America and built two hospitals for the Amoy mission in China. In April 1910 Otte was stricken ill with "Pneumonic Plague" and died within days.
