South African institute of race relations

The South African Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR) was founded in 1929 to promote co-operation between the different sections of the South African population. The Institute's most important function is to accumulate factual data on the living conditions of Black, Coloured, and Indian peoples and their legal status and civil rights.
