Lawyer of London, England; native of Ireland; Lieutenant in the British 17th Light Dragoons ("The Queen's Own"); Captain and Adjutant General of British Southern Army during American Revolution; married, 10 July 1782, in Charleston, S.C., to Catherine Beale (niece of Lieut. Governor and Mrs. William Bull II); managed Bull family property on St. Helena Island; lent Duke of Wellington money to purchase his commission of Major in the British Army; attained rank of Lieutenant Colonel by 1810s.
