Dunton, John, 1659-1733
English stationer and bookseller. After serving his apprenticeship, Dunton started his own bookselling business in London around 1684; he went to New England the next year, returning in 1686. He then opened a new bookshop in London and later sold books in Dublin. Dunton was himself the author of satires and political pamphlets as well as his Life and errors of John Dunton (1705).
