Hendel, Charles W. (Charles William), 1831-
Charles Hendel came to California in 1853 and mined for gold on the American River in Sierra County. He served as Sierra County surveyor, U.S. Deputy Surveyor and Plumas County Surveyor. He owned a large interest in the Alturas Tailing Mine and the Lucky Gold Hill Mine.
