Atonement Lutheran Church (Missoula, Mont.)

Atonement was one of 19 congregations known as “Jubilee Congregations” which were formed as part of the celebration of the founding of the American Lutheran Church. On September 10, 1961 the first service was held in the building that was to become the worship center for the congregation. On November 5, 1961 the new church, located at Highway 93 and 39th Street, was dedicated. On December 10, 1961 the congregation was formally organized with 31 confirmed members. February 25, 1967 marked groundbreaking at the site of the present location and first services were held in the basement on May 6.
