Nadel, Arno
Born in Vilna on October 3, 1878, Arno Nadel emigrated to Germany in 1890 and settled in Berlin in 1895. In 1916, he became choir director of the Jewish community of Berlin. He is best known for his work as a musicologist, and for his transcriptions and adaptations of Jewish traditional and liturgical music. He also worked as a poet and an artist. He was killed in Auschwitz in 1943.
