Gilb, Corinne Lathrop, 1925-....

Dr. Corinne Lathrop Gilb was born in Lethbridge, Alberta to American parents. She moved with her family to Washington State at the age of eight, and received a B.A. from the University of Washington, and a Ph.D. at Radcliffe College. She married Tyrell Gilb in 1945. After teaching at university level for 37 years, she retired as Professor Emeritus from Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich., in 1994. She served as the first director of UC Berkeley's Regional Cultural (Oral) History Project, Planning Director for the City of Detroit, consultant to the California Legislature, delegate to NGO meetings at the United Nations, and Vice President of the International Society for the Comparative Study of Civilization.
