Independent Democratic Coalition.

The Independent Democratic Coalition (IDC) was formed in Illinois after the 1968 Democratic Convention. Its leaders had been active in the McCarthy, Kennedy, and McGovern campaigns prior to and during the convention. IDC was later affiliated with the national New Democratic Coalition. From 1968 to 1970, IDC played an active part in the Democratic Party rules reform movement and the growth of independent Democratic political campaigns, particularly on Chicago's North Side. After 1970, the organization declined and by 1973 it had ceased to exist.
