Creel, Cecil Willis, 1889-1968.
Cecil Willis Creel became director of Agricultural Extension for the University in 1921, and except for 1942, in an unsuccessful bid for the U.S. Senate, he continued to hold this position until his retirement in 1952. He was named Dean of the College of Agriculture in 1945, and held this position through 1949. During this time, Creel also served as consultant on Boulder Dam legislation and was a member of the land appraisal board (1929, 1931); was a member of the Emergency Relief and Construction Committee (1932); the State Board of Charities and Public Welfare (1933); was State Director of the Agricultural Adjustment Program (1933); State Relief Administrator (1934); State Civil Works Administrator (1934); State Director of Rural Rehabilitation (1934); and State Director of Drought Relief (1934). In 1935, Creel was directed by the University to assist the Association of Land Grant Colleges and Universities in Washington, D.C., in connection with pending federal legislation. He served in a similar capacity until elected President of the Association for 1938/39.
