Johnson, Stanley Clyde
S. Clyde Johnson, a native of Florida, served in the United States Navy, 1943-1946, primarily stationed at Charlottesville, Virginia, and as a missionary in the Southern States Mission, 1946-1947, laboring primarily in Gibson and Augusta, Georgia. Following his mission he served as bishop of the Springfield/Jacksonville 3rd Ward, 1947-1957. He served as counselor in the Miami Stake presidency, 1960-1963; president of the Miami Stake, 1963-1970; president of the Ft. Lauderdale Stake, 1970-1973; and bishop of the Orange Park 1st Ward, 1983-1986. During the 1970s he served as the Church's public communications director for the Tampa and Miami regions and then as coordinator of the Florida Public Communications Council. He has also served on high councils in both Miami and Jacksonville and has had responsibility for the stake mission program in Miami and the stake athletic program in Jacksonville.
