Knox County, Ill. farmer who served as a 1st Lieutenant and acting Adjutant Company I, 102nd Illinois Infantry in the Civil War, attended Bryant & Stratton Business College in Chicago, farmed in Galva and Oneida, Ill. and served as a director of the Knox County Fire Insurance Company and the Galva town clerk for twelve years.
