Howard, Milo Barrett,
Milo Barrett Howard, fourth Director of the Ala. Dept. of Archives and History (1967-1981), was a native of Montgomery, Ala. He received his B.A. & M.A. from Auburn University and in 1952 began working at the Archives.
During his tenure as Director, the Archives staff increased from 19 to 47 and the East Wing (Coley Wing) of the Archives was built. Howard was also extremely active in numerous commissions, organizations and associations as well as publishing historical articles and books.
