Stay, Jesse E., 1921-

Stay served as a pilot of a B-24 with the 307th Heavy Bombardment Group in the U.S. Army Air Corps Pacific Theater during World War II from 1941-1945 achieving the rank of Major. He led many attacks on key Japanese targets including bombing raids on Iwo Jima, Midway, Guam, Saipan, and others. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice, and received eight Air Medals. He continued his military career after the war and eventually earned the rank of Colonel.
