Schreck, Lura B.
George Hubert Wilkins (1888-1958) was a British Arctic and Antarctic explorer. He made ten trips to polar regions between 1913 and 1937. He is best known for his 2100 mile flight from Pt. Barrow, Alaska to Spitsbergen, Norway (1928). King George V knighted Wilkins for this feat. Following his career as a polar explorer Wilkins became a civilian consultant to U.S. Army regarding polar and desert regions. Collection was compiled by Lura B. Schreck who may have been Wilkins' secretary. It includes Wilkins' sixty-one page manuscript description of his 1928 flight.
