The Columbia University School of Law was founded in 1858. The Law School now has a full-time faculty of fifty-six, with 950 students enrolled in J.D. of LL.M. programs. The Law Library contains 750,000 volumes and is very strong in foreign and international law. In 1986 a new position of Librarian for Special Collections in Law was created in order to care for rare books and archives.

Collecting area: Papers of faculty and alumni of the Columbia University School of Law, and official publications of the School of Law. Will also accept material about early New York law and unusual trials.
