North-Eastern Railroad Company
Incorporated in Georgia in 1854 to connect Athens, Ga., with Blue Ridge Railroad at Clayton, Ga.; main line ran from Athens to Lula, Ga. (39 miles); part of Richmond and Danville system (1881-1893); operated by the state of Georgia (1893-1899); consolidated with Southern Railway Company in 1899.
