Confraternitas Servorum Spiritus Sancti (St. Francis Seminary)

The Confraternity of the Servant of the Holy Ghost received its charter on June 30, 1883 from the headquarters of the Archconfraternity in London, England. The aim of this organization was to promote a special devotion to the Holy Ghost. Membership was restricted to students in philosophy and theology, who were expected to be more appreciative of the devotion. The confraternity was closely united to another seminary student organization, the Albertus Verein; the director of the confraternity was the president of the Albertus Verein. The confraternity was disbanded in April 1921, when the rector, Dr. Augustine C. Breig, implied that the confraternity's affiliation with the Albertus Verein was not in harmony with the constitution recently adopted by the seminary.
