Scearce, Bob, 1912-
Bob Scearce was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 16, 1912. He was raised in Bedford, Ind., but his family later moved to Gulfport, Miss., then Baton Rouge, La. Scearce attended Louisiana State University from 1933 to 1938 and graduated with majors in speech and journalism. He began writing his newspaper column, "Set the Hook Hard," for the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate during his junior year in college. He worked for WJBO radio (1939-1953) and hosted a television program, "The Great Outdoors" (1953-1986).
