Detroit Public Library. Friends

Founded in the fall of 1942 to bring together people with a kindred interest in books and a concern for the growth and development of the Library. The organization began with a small charter group of 38 and purchased over $25,000 of books and materials in its first 10 years of existence. The Friends of the Library also provided Funds to decorate the Friends Auditorium in the wings of the Main Library built in 1963. (from Among Friends no.8 p. introd.) (blue index cards)
