Bentley, W. A. (Wilson Alwyn), 1865-1931

Wilson Alwyn "Snowflake" Bentley was born on February 9, 1865 in the Nashville area of Jericho, Vermont. His parents were Thomas Edwin Bentley and Fanny Eliza (Colton) Bentley. Wilson had one brother, Charles, who married Mary Blood and had eight children-many of whom were photographed by Wilson. Bentley is most known for his photomicrographs of snowflakes, several of which were published along with his articles in publications including "National Geographic," "Nature," and "Scientific American." Wilson A. Bentley died on December 23, 1931.
