Griggs, Stephen, ?-1850.
The cashier at the Illinois State Bank of Alton, 1835-1839, mayor of Alton, 1840-1841 and drowned in 1850.
Ledger is a copy of a ledger giving names, dates and amounts but not items. There is a 1841 note written by Charles Trumbull stating that he, as Griggs' bookkeeper, has recopied this portion of the ledger with transactions up to that time and with the balance struck.
