Parker, John, 1759-1832

John Parker IV (June 24, 1759 – April 20, 1832) was an American lawyer, plantation owner, and statesman from South Carolina.

Born in Charleston in the Colony of South Carolina, Parker was educated in Charleston and England, eventually graduating from the Middle Temple, London. He returned to South Carolina and engaged in cultivating rice. He was admitted to the bar in 1785 and practiced in Charleston. He served in the Congress of the Confederation from 1786 to 1788. Parker thereafter engaged in planting on his estates, Hayes and Cedar Grove. He died near Charleston and was buried on the Hayes estate.
