Waltham Watch Company
Watch manufacturer, Waltham, Mass., founded in 1850. Known as American Watch Company from 1859 to 1885 and American Waltham Watch Company from 1885 to 1906. The firm went into bankruptcy in 1948, and various attempts at reorganization proved unsuccessful and it ceased operations in the 1950's. The Waltham Precision Instrument Company is an instrument manufacturer loosely descended from the older firm.
