Lincoln, Rod M.

The Freeport Sulphur Co. was established in 1912 at Freeport, Tex. It began mining operations at Grande Ecaille, La., in 1933. The company founded the town of Port Sulphur, La., to establish a base for its mining operations and shipping in this area. Developed from sparsely settled land in Plaquemines Parish, the town provided housing for employees and a stable workforce for the company. After a merger with McMoRan Oil and Gas in 1981, the company name was changed to Freeport-McMoRan Inc. Rod M. Lincoln, a resident of New Orleans, La., was the supervisor of Training and Development for Freeport-McMoRan Inc.
