University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Commencement and Baccalaureate Services.

The first UMD graduation exercises were held in 1901 by its predessessor school, the New Bedford Textile School. SInce 1960, all UMD commencements have taken place at the North Dartmouth campus, and since 1973 in the Vietnam Veterens Peace Memorial Amphitheater. Both commencement and the baccalaureate, a religious service, take place on a sunday two weeks after the end of finals.
