Weiss, Theodore Russell, 1916-2003
An independent "little magazine," QRL was founded in 1943 by Warren Carrier. A year later Ted and Renee Weiss became the magazine's permanent editors and publishers, first at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, then at Bard College, and since 1968 at Princeton University. Ted Weiss taught creative writing and Shakespeare in Princeton's English Department, where he was the William & Annie S. Paton Foundation Professor of Ancient and Modern Literature from 1977 until his retirement in 1987. Renee Weiss, in addition to her management and editorial assistance at QRL, has been a teacher, violinist, and author.
