Sheffield, James R. (James Rockwell), 1864-1938

James Rockwell Sheffield practiced law in New York City. He was active in Republican politics and served in the New York legislature, on the New York City Board of Fire Commissioners, as president of the National Republican Club, and as a delegate to four Republican national conventions between 1916 and 1936. From 1924 to 1927 Sheffield was United States Ambassador to Mexico.
