Shimer College.
Small, liberal arts college located in Waukegan, Illinois.
The college began as the Mt. Carroll (Illinois) Seminary in 1853, under the direction of Frances Shimer. It developed a reputation as a woman's school. Renamed the Frances Shimer College in 1896, it was once affiliated with the University of Chicago (1896-1897, 1950-1956). Moved to Waukegan in 1979.
