Shaskan, Frances Marsh, 1905-1986 (inclusive)

Frances Marsh Shaskan, Radcliffe College Class of 1927, helped found a San Francisco group that fought increases in consumer prices and advocated for free milk in schools. She also helped found T.U.R.N. to fight utility rate increases in California. In 1951, she ran for the Board of Supervisors and in the same year, was named by Governor Pat Brown to the state's first Consumer Advisory Council and then to the State Commission on Mental Health, leading a campaign to build mental health clinics throughout California.
