Reps, Paul, 1895-1990
Saladin Paul Reps was born in Cedar City, IA, Sept. 15, 1895; a spiritualist, author, and artist, he studied Buddhism in India and the Far East and was a prominent figure in the anti-establishment movement in the US during the 1960s; he is best remembered for introducing the principles of Zen philosophy to western readers; he produced several volumes of poetry which he published in conjunction with his ink drawing and wrote or published several other books including, Zen flesh Zen bones : a collection of Zen and pre-Zen writings ; died in Los Angeles, CA, July 12, 1990.
