Johnston, George, d. 1861.
The son of John Johnston and Susan Ozhaw-guscoday-wayquay Johnston, George Johnston served in the British army and took part in the engagement at Mackinac Island on Aug. , 1814. Later, with his father, he became an American Citizen. He was employed for many years in the Indian Department as agent and interpreter under direction of Henry R. Schoolcraft. Johnston died at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. on Jan. 6, 1861.
