Rawlins, F. I. G. (Francis Ian Gregory), 1895-1969
Rawlins spent at least two years at Edinburgh University. From Edinburgh he went to Trinity, Cambridge and after completing a thesis on absorption spectra in 1926, taught in the Department of Mineralogy and Petrology. His expertise in spectroscopy and crystallography led to his subsequent appointment as Scientific Adviser to the National Gallery.
