Illinois. Judicial Advisory Council

The Illinois Judicial Advisory Council (1957-1984), composed of three House members appointed by the Speaker, three Senate members appointed by the president pro tempore, and three members appointed by the Governor (all nine being bar members), was to study the justice system and offer legislative suggestions. Specifically, the council was to examine judicial organization; criminal law; criminal procedure; civil procedure; offender apprehension, prosecution, and penal treatment; and to report its findings biennially to the General Assembly. The council was abolished by the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984.
