Draper, Benjamin.

Benjamin Poff Draper was a university professor, television producer and Colo. historian. He was born July 10, 1907 in Malvern, Ark. and moved with his father to Denver, Colo. in 1914. Draper attended Hyde Park School and Manual Training High School and received his B. A., M. A. and a Ph. D. from the University of Denver. He also received a Ph. D. in Economics from the University of Chicago. In the 1930s, he worked with the Central City Opera House Association, Anne Evans and Ida Kruse McFarlane. During World War II, he served in the Coast Guard. Draper eventually became a professor of broadcast communications at San Francisco State University, Calif. He was also executive producer and received several Emmy Awards for his work on the NBC-TV series, Science in Action. Draper later lived in Mill Valley, Calif., but spent his summers in Georgetown, Colo. He died July 10, 1980 in Craig, Colo.
